Those New To Yoga
Anyone new to yoga can easily integrate with Mixed Level or Restorative classes.
Beginner’s / Gentle Yoga
This course will introduce all aspects of hatha yoga practice including: correct breathing, body alignment, and a variety of yoga postures that will increase strength, flexibility, concentration and deep relaxation.
Restorative Yoga
Gentle postures practiced in this class will help relieve the effects of chronic pain and stress, ease the over-active mind and reduce blood pressure and fluid retention. The exercises tone and strengthen the muscles, skeleton and joints, and tone and balance the nervous and hormonal systems. The session is ideal for those suffering from back pain, high blood pressure, arthritis, osteoporosis or immune dysfunction, and for those who have been away from activity or are recovering from illness or surgery.
Vinyasa/Vigorous
Postures are held longer or 'in flow', to increase strength and promote greater flexilibilty and deeper relaxation. Breathing techniques, breath synchronization, concentration and awareness are further developed. Modifications of yoga postures are given allowing students of varying abilities to experience the powerful and revitalizing benefits of an energetic practice.
Kundalini
Kundalini Yoga is a dynamic form of yoga that awakens awareness. It uses sets of yogic postures and movements (asana) with meditative focus, breath work (pranayama), and sound (mantra). In addition to strengthening the health and well being of the physical body, it is very useful for emotional balance, mental clarity, stress relief, and personal transformation. Kundalini energy is the energy of awareness. This energy of awareness lies dormant within us until through yoga, meditation, or spiritual practices, we begin to awaken it. When Kundalini is awake, it enriches people's lives emotionally, intellectually, physically, and spiritually. Moreover, its arousal purportedly contributes to the cure of many intractable diseases. Simply put, awakening our "kundalini" is just awakening our own awareness and consciousness so we can live a much richer, fuller life. All Levels.
Mixed Level classes - those new to yoga may join these classes
These classes focus on the different aspects of a well-rounded yoga practice. All classes emphasize deep breathing and slow movement stretches which tone muscles and nerves, loosen and flex joints, strengthen the skeleton, improve circulation and balance the hormonal system. The effect is to relax body and mind, relieve tension and cultivate mental calm and clarity.
Chakra Meditation Workshop
Take a walk through the energy systems with this 8 week course designed to help you understand the chakra system. Each week we will focus on a particular chakra or energy center using yoga and meditation as our mode of exploration.
The yoga and meditation will encourage you to open up centers and observe the qualities that lie within. The result is that you will be able to tune up your energy systems simply and easily.
